Iwinosa Kids Spring/Summer Sewing Classes

Overview:

Discover the world of IWINOSA (pronounced ee-wee-NO-sah), which means "Beauty in Stitches."

The WHY:

As a self-taught fashion designer, I know firsthand how far creativity can take you when given a chance. I believe there are many talented children whose gifts remain untapped due to financial barriers or limited access. This class is my way of giving back—removing obstacles and creating space for young talent to be seen, nurtured, and celebrated.

Our fashion accessories and sewing classes are tailored for kids interested in fashion and design. This course will be COMPLETELY FREE and will introduce essential skills through creating accessories like bags, scarves, and jewelry, along with basic sewing techniques such as stitching, hemming, and pattern-making. Join us for an exciting and creative sewing journey designed to spark imagination, develop skills, and nurture a love for crafting in kids. 

Classes will run for SPRING SEASON - APRIL 2026.

ALL MATERIALS WILL  BE PROVIDED. 

Objective:

To introduce beginners to the world of fashion accessories and sewing through interactive and hands-on classes.

Course Structure:

- Introduction to fashion accessories and their role in completing an outfit
- Basic sewing techniques and tools

- Creating a simple pillow case

- Designing and sewing a scarf

- Crafting an embellished bracelet

- Final project: designing and creating a personalized accessory

INSTRUCTOR

Meet Angela Enwezor

Angela Enwezor is an Afrocentric contemporary fashion designer, owner of Prisca’s Art, and founder of the nonprofit Iwinosa Timeless Stitches. Her work bridges cultural heritage, creative education, and community empowerment. Through her youth sewing programs, Angela introduces children to textile arts as both a practical skill and a form of cultural expression, fostering confidence, creativity, and cross-cultural appreciation.
